(If you found this page with a search engine, and you're looking for UI-View or WinPack, you can find the main UI-View page HERE, and you can find WinPack HERE) From V1.74, UI-View32 provides interactive support for Precision Mapping from UnderTow Software. This gives UI-View32 street level mapping of the whole of the USA. To support Precision Mapping, UI-View32 uses a plug-in map server - PmapServer - that integrates seamlessly into the program. PmapServer behaves like a normal UI-View32 map, but also has zoom, pan, search, etc, facilities. Please note - You cannot use Precision Mapping V3 or V4 with UI-View32. Read This First!I supply UI-View32 for a registration fee of 10 GBP (about $19). I am currently supplying the PmapServer add-on for a cost of nothing. At such a low price, I simply cannot afford to provide large amounts of personal support to individual users. So, before downloading the files, or registering UI-View32 if you haven't already registered it, please read the following comments. If you object to anything you read, then UI-View32 / PmapServer is not for you. Please do not start using the program, and then inundate me with complaints about matters that are covered in these notes. SupportI support UI-View32 via the UI-View mailing list on Yahoo Groups. I do not support it
via the TAPR APRSSIG, because I prefer to offer support in a list dedicated to
my programs. I much prefer to answer questions sent to the list rather than
personal emails, because a reply to the list is seen by hundreds of users,
and may hopefully prevent someone else asking the same question.
Click the logo Required PC PerformanceI have always said that a P120 with Win95 is the minimum spec PC on which UI-View32 will give acceptable performance. When used in conjunction with PmapServer, I would recommend using at least a P200, because on a P120 the map is slow to change. If you already have Precision Mapping, then changing the map display in Precision Mapping Traveler will give you a good idea of how UI-View32 with PmapServer will feel on your PC. RegistrationYou cannot use UI-View32 without a registration. See the UI-View main page for more information. It is a condition of my development licence from UnderTow that PmapServer will only run on a PC on which a registered copy of Precision Mapping V5 or V6 is installed. Specifically, you need to have run Precision Mapping V5 or V6 Traveler, and followed the registration instructions. It is a condition of my development licence from UnderTow that you register your use of PmapServer with them. This is an almost identical procedure to registering Traveler, and you will be prompted to register the first time you run PmapServer. This registration costs you nothing. I can't try before I buy!UI-View32 cannot be used without a registration, but, if you want to get an idea of the look and feel of UI-View, then download UI-View(16) and give it a try. What You Need To Download And InstallIf you do not have UI-View32 V1.80 or later installed, then go to the UI-View main page, download and install UI-View32 V2.03. Come back here when you have it working. Now you have UI-View32 V1.80 or later installed and working, you need to download and install PmapServer - THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS! pmsrv150.exe (2.18MB) is for use with Precision Mapping V5. pmsv6170.exe (2.50MB) is for use with Precision Mapping V6. Both are self-extracting installers. When you run the EXE file, it will take you into an installation dialogue. NOTE -
I Can't Work Out How To Use PmapServer! When you install PmapServer, two "readme" windows are displayed, but I know no-one ever reads that sort of thing, so here is part of the text from one of them - When you have installed PmapServer(6), the next time you start UI-View32, there will be a map listed called "Precision Mapping V5 (or V6) Server". The first time you select this map, you will be asked to browse to your Precision Mapping program folder, so that PmapServer can work out the location of the Precision Mapping data files. Further configuration can be done at any time via the PmapServer Control Panel, which is accessed via the UI-View32 Map, Control Panel option. The Control Panel also provides access to the PmapServer help file. In ConclusionIf you get stuck, please read the above notes again. If you're still stuck, and you're sure the answer isn't in the above notes, then please consider using the UI-View mailing list before emailing me direct - roger@peaksys.co.uk.
